Gustavo Amaral is a Brazilian artist who creates photographic collages that explore the human form. His works capture simultaneously the body in its external form, and the inner emotions existing beneath its shell. Amaral weaves, glues and sews the fragmentation of himself in papers, fabrics, and textures. Through his photographs, images from old magazines and books, the artist interprets such themes as the human body, emotions, architecture and collective consciousness.
The artist graduated in his hometown of Belo Horizonte with a degree in Journalism before pursuing his passion for photography and filmmaking in Sao Paulo. His work has been shown frequently in both Brazil and Holland.
