Lara Grozev is a Mt Albert Grammar School alumna. Although she got Bachelor of Architecture degree at the University of Auckland, she is continuing to pursue her passion for fine arts. The human figure, in particular how it conveys emotion, features in Lara’s paintings. Inspired by feelings of lethargy and idleness, she explores the sensation of passing time and alleviation. This is executed through the form of the figure and her combination of loose and gestural, and tight and controlled, brushstrokes. Lara achieves this using layers of acrylic paint, texture, and pencil, lending the painted work the quality of a rough, dashed-off sketch.
