Born in 1994, Nantongo J. Olivia Mary is an emerging Ugandan visual artist who specializes in mixed media painting. Most of her works portray African women as independent, liberated, self-confident, unique, strong, and free. She believes that ‘we are living in a society where women have self-love issues.’ A daughter of a Gynaecologist and a Businesswoman, the only girl among six boys in the family and the last-born Olivia developed the love for art at a tender age of 8 years, where she learned and developed the skill to draw and paint. Olivia holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and FineArts at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.
