Nompumelelo (Mpumi) Peter was born and raised in Springs, Ekurhuleni Johannesburg (SA). She graduated from the University of South Africa with a Bachelors Degree in Financial Management. Mpumi does not limit herself to one medium, style or concept as inspiration and ideas change. Her creativity is expressed in many ways, but her preferred medium includes oil painting, fabric and patterns. She brings her personal love for African fashion into a lot of her artworks by using African fabrics and patterns. She is influenced by her continent; her surroundings and how Africans have embraced their blackness.
