Moeketsi Moahloli, born in Soweto, is an artist who works with charcoal, soft pastels, newspaper, and acrylic paint. His art draws from the vibrant energy of urban life, particularly the diverse culture of Soweto at the grassroots level. He studied Multimedia Design at the University of Johannesburg and spent six years as a graphic designer before returning to fine art. Moeketsi incorporates newspaper into his work to add layers of depth and meaning, symbolizing news and stories. His personal hero is his late mother, Keneiloe Moahloli, a loving single parent, while his artistic inspirations include Edward Selematsela, Eiichiro Oda, Osamu Tezuka, Spike Lee, and the worlds of Disney and Marvel studios.
