Kim Tobin
Melbourne-based photographer
Kim Tobin is a Melbourne-based photographer whose work is inspired by travel, social observations of people, and the objects they surround themselves with. Her photography practice delves into themes of consumerism and the environmental impact of plastic marine waste, focusing on how these issues affect the world. Through her work, Kim portrays the ordinary as extraordinary, challenging perceptions of beauty and value in contemporary society.
Kim completed a Master of Photography with Distinction from RMIT University in 2023, following her Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours, Photography) from Deakin University. She also holds a Post Graduate Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Melbourne. Kim lives and works on the traditional lands of the Kulin Nation, and she acknowledges and pays respect to the traditional owners of the land, acknowledging it will always be Aboriginal land.
