Sophie Painter is a linocut printmaker and the creative force behind Sophie Painter Studios, based in Cornwall, UK. A doctor by profession, Sophie discovered printmaking in 2019 and quickly fell in love with the craft, finding in it both a creative outlet and a source of calm. Her work is inspired by the landscapes, folklore, and everyday beauty of life in Cornwall, blending detailed observation with storytelling. Sophie primarily works with Japanese vinyl and prints by hand or on a compact Xcut Xpress, often experimenting with new techniques and styles. With a growing collection of prints ranging from coastal scenes to vintage objects and mythic tales, she’s at the beginning of an exciting artistic journey—hoping one day to make printmaking her full-time calling.
