Jean Baptiste Rukundo, a Rwandan visual artist born near Kigali, creates powerful, expressionist works rooted in personal memory, social observation, and profound emotional depth. A survivor of the Genocide Against the Tutsis, and graduate of Nyundo School of Art and Music, Rukundo began painting at Ivuka Arts in 2011, developing a distinctive style blending vibrant color, bold brushwork, and layered symbolism. His work explores themes such as faith, identity, and power, often through local symbolism and human emotion.
