Artist Profile

Jhonny Blanco
Bolivian visual artist
Jhonny Blanco is a Bolivian visual artist and researcher whose work is deeply rooted in the ancestral culture of the Aymara people and the millenary legacy of Tiwanaku. Born in La Paz to Aymara parents, Blanco draws inspiration from the myths, legends, and theogony of Andean civilizations—Aymara, Quechua, and other pre-Columbian cultures—translating them into a vibrant visual language that blends abstract and figurative styles. His art is a spiritual and cultural homage to the Andean worldview, where symbols, deities, and earth-rooted philosophy ("Pachamama") take center stage. Since relocating to Argentina in 1994, he has continued to share his vision through exhibitions across Latin America and beyond. A graduate of the Universidad Nacional de las Artes (UNA) in Buenos Aires, Blanco’s work spans various media—oil, acrylic, watercolor, ink, and sculpture—and reflects a lifelong dedication to honoring and reinterpreting the living essence of Andean identity.
