SPLL GIRL

Artist Profile

SPLL GIRL
Illustrator and artist based in Canada
Emcie Turineck, known artistically as SPLL GIRL, is an illustrator and artist based in Montréal, Québec. She holds a BFA and Art Education degree from Concordia University, where her work centered on drawing and sculpture before evolving into a vibrant, digitally-driven practice. Emcie creates highly emotive, narrative-rich illustrations featuring exaggerated characters, wobbly lines, and expressive movement. Living with Ehlers-Danlos Hypermobility Syndrome—a condition that affects her joints, skin, mobility, and nervous system—she also identifies as autistic and has ADHD. Artmaking is her essential way of navigating her health, space, and emotional world, offering both structure and release. Her moniker, “SPLL GIRL,” reflects a playful embrace of imperfection and her instinct to pour herself fully into her creative process. Emcie has collaborated with commercial brands, advertising agencies, publishers, and local businesses in Montréal and Toronto.
