Artist Profile

Natasha Muluswela
UK-based visual artist
Natasha Muluswela (b. 1995, Zimbabwe) is a UK-based visual artist whose drawing- and painting-led practice explores contemporary figuration through the lenses of identity, representation, and social justice. Informed by her experience as an African woman in the diaspora, her work engages critically with decolonial, intersectional, and anti-marginalisation frameworks—positioning the personal as inherently political. Working primarily on paper using pencils, dry pigments, and graphite powder, Muluswela builds her images through a meditative and repetitive process that is both intuitive and intentional. Her visual language merges ancestral memory with contemporary narrative, giving form to diasporic stories that often go unseen. Her practice seeks to “decolonise the conscious collective within the contemporary art frame,” making visible the layered dimensions of cultural identity.
