Artist Profile
Yasir Algrai
Sudanese artist
Yasir Ahmed Algrai is a Sudanese artist whose work bridges fine art, social advocacy, and cultural storytelling. Working primarily in acrylics while also exploring watercolors, inks, oils, and animation, he uses visual language to document Sudan’s revolution, preserve cultural heritage, and amplify human stories shaped by conflict and resilience. His murals, illustrations, and international exhibitions—rom France to Jordan to the United States reflect his belief that artists are responsible narrators of their societies. After losing his studio during the war in Khartoum, Algrai rebuilt his practice in Nairobi, continuing to create work that promotes healing, unity, and peace. A collaborator with UNICEF, the World Health Organization, and youth organizations, he is committed to using art as a tool for education, emotional recovery, and global connection, with aspirations to expand into short filmmaking for children.
