Nandul Japheth Ponzing is a full-time studio painter based in Abuja, Nigeria, and a graduate of the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he majored in painting. Born in 44 Barracks, Kaduna State, he has participated in notable competitions, including the 2013 LIMCAF themed Less Is More and the May 2013 National Gallery of Art (Kaduna) competition, where he won second place in the drawing category. Known for his signature style of “abstracted hyperrealism,” Japheth harmonizes color and expressive strokes to portray figures imbued with layered emotions and lived experiences. His work often confronts urgent social issues particularly those affecting women using bold visual narratives to challenge injustice and advocate for change.
