Eyerusalem Haddis is a self-taught painter based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, who has been working as a full-time artist since 2019 from her home studio, Hanos. Deeply inspired by Ethiopian literature, history, and culture—particularly the traditions of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church—her practice brings historical narratives and figures to life through a distinctive and expressive visual language. Working primarily with oil on canvas, Eyerusalem is known for her intricate details and vivid color palette, drawing from ancient Ethiopian myths and texts to create richly layered compositions. Her work stands as a celebration of Ethiopia’s cultural heritage, using painting as a means to share personal ideology, collective memory, and enduring traditions with a wider audience.
