Artist Profile
Yasmine Amal
Germany-born Moroccan self-taught artist
Yasmine Amal is a self-taught artist working between Casablanca and Berlin whose practice explores kinship, femininity, and spiritual interconnectedness within elemental and metaphysical spaces. Her work unfolds through bold color palettes and rhythmic patterns, shaped by an intuition-led approach that channels sensuality, ancestral knowledge, and imagination. Drawing on Sufi thought alongside collectivist and ecological narratives, she positions her practice within Indigenous futurism, creating visual gateways that move beyond anthropocentric frameworks. Her symbolism is deeply informed by her Amazigh heritage and a profound connection to nature, with the ocean serving as both inspiration and guiding metaphor. Before dedicating herself fully to art in 2023, Yasmine worked in international relations with a focus on violent extremism and social cohesion, a background that continues to inform her commitment to dialogue and social transformation.
