Artist Profile
Wafa Salah
Sudanese visual artist based in Saudi Arabia
Wafa Salah is a visual artist living and working between Khartoum, Sudan, and Dammam, Saudi Arabia. She received her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Sudan University College of Fine and Applied Arts, Painting Department, in 2014. Her practice moves fluidly between figuration and abstraction, drawing inspiration from nature, everyday environments, and lived experience. Through the use of acrylic on paper or canvas, linocut printing techniques, and carefully layered design elements and patterns drawn from her immediate surroundings, Salah constructs scenes that feel both personal and universally resonant. Rooted in an African context yet intentionally open-ended, her work reflects her belief that events, emotions, and social dynamics continuously recur across different times and places, reappearing in altered forms, orders, or combinations. By recording and reimagining these moments, Salah explores the cyclical nature of human experience and the shared narratives that connect individuals across cultures and histories.
