Amusan Joshua (born 1997, Oyo State, Nigeria) is a contemporary, sublimely gifted artist whose practice is rooted in drawing and painting, working primarily with pencil, charcoal, and acrylic on canvas. Based in Oyo State, he developed an early passion for art and pursued formal training at Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, where he earned an NCE, before completing a B.Ed. at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Joshua’s work explores themes of identity and memory through meticulously detailed portraits and figurative compositions, using expressive strokes, vibrant color palettes, and textured layers that evoke nostalgia and introspection. Over the past decade, he has participated in group exhibitions and has contributed to community-based public art projects such as collaborative mural initiatives. His current practice continues to delve into cultural heritage and personal identity, inviting viewers to reflect on their own histories and connections to the past.
