Artist Profile
Elfreda Dali
London-based Nigerian multidisciplinary artist
Elfreda Dali (b. 1995) is a Nigerian fashion designer and multidisciplinary artist based in the UK, working at the intersection of art and fashion with textiles as her core medium. Her practice is driven by extensive research into cultural theory and diasporic identities, using materials such as leather, fabric waste, acrylic, and stitching to explore layered identity, memory, and belonging. A Ravensbourne University graduate, she was the youngest designer to showcase at Africa Fashion Week London in 2012 and has since presented award-winning collections at Graduate Fashion Week, The Royal Albert Fashion Exhibit with Fashion Scout, Lagos Fashion Week, and Arise Fashion Week. Alongside her studio practice, DALI has taught and lectured at Ravensbourne University and the University of Northampton, and was named Arise 30 Under 30 in Fashion Design in 2020. In 2023, she founded Otherwise, a platform empowering diasporic creatives in art and technology, and debuted her first body of visual artworks, where stitched leather surfaces function as living talismans—mapping the emotional and mental cartographies of diaspora, transformation, and becoming.
