Obadipe Ayodeji is a Nigerian visual artist whose practice explores personal memory and collective history through figurative painting and assemblage. Drawing from both known and anonymous images of Black subjects spanning the era of African independence movements to the contemporary moment, he recontextualizes the past with subtle modern interventions. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, often combined with other media, Ayodeji uses painting as an emotional and reflective process to examine themes of family, identity, gender, self-determination, and the passage of time. His work seeks to illuminate the humanity, dignity, and richness of ordinary people. He has participated in several group exhibitions in Nigeria.
