Artist Profile
Grace Gershinson
London-based artist
Grace Gershinson is a London-based artist whose sculptural practice explores the delicate tension between natural matter, time, and form. A graduate of the Royal College of Art and the Edinburgh College of Art, her work investigates nature’s passage oscillating between ephemeral growth and the stillness of fossilization. Through spontaneous, trial-and-error material experimentation, Gershinson manipulates found natural objects, distorting their original shapes and uses to create biomorphic abstractions that challenge perceptions of weight, texture, repetition, and buoyancy. By rendering materials in unexpected ways she ambiguates materiality, placing familiar forms into an uncanny, liminal space. Her sculptures become both physical and psychological studies, reflecting inner states and the fluctuant growth of the natural world, held momentarily in a singular, static stance.
