Elhassan Elmuontasir is a Sudanese contemporary artist based in Nairobi, Kenya, whose multidisciplinary practice spans portraiture, installation, and experimental media. His work examines African identity, collective memory, and the evolving social and political landscapes of the region. With a background in graphic design and technical studies, Elmuontasir integrates digital aesthetics with tactile elements, creating layered compositions that move between figurative and conceptual approaches. In Khartoum, he co-founded Khaish Studio, an independent space dedicated to artistic collaboration and experimentation. His practice, informed by residencies in Uganda and Germany, often addresses themes of migration, displacement, and resilience within the postcolonial African experience, positioning him among a dynamic generation of emerging East African artists.
