Okamar Onesmus

Okamar Onesmus is a Kenyan visual artist working in painting and sculpture, known for his emotionally charged explorations of human experience. Born in Teso-North, Busia County, he was mentored by his uncle, the artist Peter Elungat, who encouraged his early artistic development. Onesmus gained national recognition after winning The Mask Prize for Best Painting in 2014 and again in 2016. His work addresses themes such as self-realization, mental health, coexistence, love, and unity, often reflecting the emotional and social dynamics of contemporary African life.
