Lala Drona

Artist Profile

Lala Drona
Franco-American artist
Lala Drona is a Franco-American artist of Venezuelan heritage working between Paris and London. A graduate of the Royal College of Art (MA Painting), she has exhibited internationally, including her 2024 solo exhibition Virtual Reverence at Elios Gallery, Paris. Her practice explores what she terms the “Abject Feminine,” shifting attention from external appearance to the body as visceral, interior, and uncanny matter. Through satirical totemic figures and fleshy, unstable landscapes, she constructs forms that oscillate between familiarity and estrangement, containment and excess, suggesting the body as a site of constant becoming. Shaped by reconstructive surgeries and a bi-cultural upbringing among internet pioneers and entrepreneurs, Drona draws on lived corporeality and digital aesthetics alike, translating gradients, distortions, and visual overload into painterly surfaces. Her work ultimately stages the body as a posthuman force that exceeds containment, continuously spilling beyond its own boundaries.
