Xiaoxiao Chen
Artist based between Shanghai and London
Xiaoxiao Chen is a Shanghai- and London-based artist whose practice explores the subtle energies connecting the natural world and the human body through abstract, biology-inspired compositions. Working across digital painting and mixed media, Chen creates fluid visual environments shaped by circles, lines, and layered organic forms that evoke cells, landscapes, water, and shifting states of perception. Influenced by Eastern philosophies of flow and mindfulness, as well as artists such as Shirin Neshat, Julie Mehretu, Yayoi Kusama, and Chiho Aoshima, her work investigates cycles of transformation, decay, and regeneration, positioning identity and environment as continuously intertwined. Through vibrant yet meditative compositions that rely on distortion, diffusion, and repetition, Chen creates contemplative spaces where perception, memory, and ecology merge, encouraging reflection on the fragile and evolving relationship between humans and nature.
