Artist Profile
Lorena Iavorschi
Contemporary Romanian painter
Lorena Iavorschi is a contemporary Romanian painter and illustrator based in Otopeni whose artistic practice is rooted in both personal exploration and traditional craftsmanship. Her journey began in childhood with a few tubes of oil paint and improvised canvases cut from her father’s shirts, an early freedom that continues to inform the spontaneity and sensitivity of her work today. Over the years, Iavorschi pursued studies in art, painted icons, and worked in face painting before dedicating herself, since 2005, to mural painting restoration in historic churches. This experience shaped not only her technical discipline but also a deep appreciation for the spiritual and symbolic dimensions of image-making. While oil remains her preferred medium, she continuously experiments with acrylics, inks, and mixed techniques, often incorporating gold leaf for its decorative richness and luminous quality. Balancing graphic ornamentation with painterly expression, Lorena Iavorschi’s work reflects an ongoing search for harmony between the decorative and the emotional, tradition and contemporary sensibility.
