Artist Profile

Hong Liu-Sertti is a contemporary artist based in Finland whose practice is shaped by a bicultural background spanning China and Finland. Having moved from China nearly two decades ago, she draws on the intersection of these two cultural perspectives to explore themes of exchange, integration, and mutual understanding. Her paintings reflect a deep engagement with human–nature relationships and a commitment to fostering respect for cultural diversity, while also inviting reflection on universal aspects of human existence. Working with traditional Chinese artistic techniques reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, she develops a visual language that bridges heritage and modern expression, enriching her work with layered multicultural references and perspectives.
