Artist Profile
Hannah Taylor
Painter from Wales
Hannah Taylor (b. Wales) is a painter whose practice explores memory, place, identity, and the emotional complexities of belonging. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, she uses the immediacy of a fast-drying medium to capture fleeting thoughts and impressions before they settle, creating works that function as subtle traces of permanence against the passage of time. Drawing on her experiences growing up in Blaina in the South Wales Valleys, Taylor's paintings examine the fragmented relationship between self and hometown, navigating themes of nostalgia, grief, entrapment, and resilience. Through compositions that shift between quiet reflection and visual intensity, she reflects on the tensions between affection for place and the desire to escape it. Taylor graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Coleg Sir Gar Carmarthen in 2026.
