Artist Profile
Kelvin Ansong
Ghanaian contemporary artist
Kelvin Ansong is a Ghanaian contemporary artist whose practice explores perception, identity, and the emotional dimensions of human experience. Working across portraiture, landscapes, and wildlife subjects, he employs abstract forms, fluid lines, and symbolic motifs to construct a distinctive visual language that he terms Kescorism—a personal artistic philosophy through which emotion is translated into form. His compositions are characterised by rhythmic movement, layered symbolism, and expressive abstraction, inviting viewers to engage with themes of transformation, self-discovery, and social consciousness. Through his work, Ansong challenges conventional ways of seeing, creating images that are both deeply personal and broadly relatable. His work has been featured in prominent group exhibitions across Accra, including presentations at the British Council, Alliance Française, Defia Art Gallery, CFAO’s The Journey, and the Colombian Embassy in Ghana, where he received recognition from the Colombian Ambassador. As a Visiting Fellow at the Noldor Artist Residency, Ansong continues to develop his evolving practice, establishing himself as an emerging voice within contemporary African art.
