Artist Profile
Kanokwan Sutthang
Interdisciplinary Thai artist
Kanokwan Sutthang (b. 1997, Bangkok) is a Thai artist whose interdisciplinary practice explores the relationships between nature, culture, and everyday life through painting, object installation, and site-specific research. Focusing on overlooked and short-lived plants such as rice and weeds, she investigates the cultural narratives and ecological histories embedded within these seemingly ordinary forms. Her work examines the influence of foreign elements that permeate the boundaries between human and natural environments, bringing attention to stories that often remain unseen or unacknowledged. In 2024, she was awarded a grant and selected for the Early Years Project 7, and her work has been presented in exhibitions including Hallucination (2024) at the Silpakorn University Art Centre, Wang Tha Phra, and Merely Encountering the Evident (2025) at HOP PHOTO GALLERY.
