Artist Profile

Ivan Jurečka is a Czech artist whose practice centers on transforming vinyl records into intricately crafted portraits and sculptural works. After serving for six years in the Army of the Slovak Republic, he studied acting at the Academy of Arts before continuing his theatre education in dramatic acting at JAMU in Brno. Following his studies, he became a member of the international ensemble Divadlo Continuo, where the company's strong emphasis on visual storytelling and scenographic poetics profoundly influenced his artistic approach. For more than a decade, Jurečka has developed a distinctive practice that combines meticulous craftsmanship with material transformation, reimagining discarded vinyl records as detailed artworks that celebrate both the physical qualities of the medium and the creative potential of reuse.
