Artist Profile

Petr Václavek, working under the artistic pseudonym PBV, is a contemporary Czech visual artist and self-taught painter based in Čánka near Opočno. Rooted in the landscape and atmosphere of East Bohemia, his practice is distinguished by its emotional intensity, existential undertones, and exploration of the boundaries between light and shadow, familiarity and uncertainty. Through expressive painting, PBV investigates the psychological tension between what feels intimately known and what evokes instinctive unease, creating works that invite contemplation of the complexities of human perception and inner experience.
