Artist Profile

Petra Sojková Machoňová is a Czech artist based in Prague whose practice explores the expressive potential of painting as a process of release and transformation. Trained in fine art before spending many years working in computer graphics, she recently returned to painting, embracing its immediacy, materiality, and unpredictability. Her works investigate the body as a mutable, fragmented, and unstable form, where lines simultaneously construct and disrupt, and gestures reveal psychological and visceral states. Moving between attraction and resistance, softness and tension, her paintings evoke layered inner landscapes that resist fixed interpretation. For Sojková Machoňová, painting is not a search for definitive forms but an ongoing process through which impulses, sensations, and emotional experiences emerge and remain open to continual transformation.
