Dávid Prokaj is a Hungarian self-taught painter whose practice has evolved since 2017 through an in-depth engagement with the techniques of nineteenth-century academic realism. Working across landscape, portraiture, still life, and genre painting, he creates lyrical compositions that explore the interplay of light, time, and human emotion. Drawing inspiration from Romantic painting while developing a distinctive contemporary visual language, Prokaj combines technical precision with an atmospheric sensibility, producing works that evoke mystery, contemplation, and the emotional resonance of the natural and human worlds.
