Artist Profile

Iris Marchand is a French self-taught artist based in Marseille whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, ceramics, installation, and artist's books. Developed through residencies in New York, Berlin, Paris, Bilbao, Arles, and elsewhere, her work investigates the relationship between image, language, and space. While painting remains central to her practice, she also creates ceramic installations that reshape architectural environments and invite viewers to navigate shifting physical and psychological landscapes. Characterized by a restrained monochromatic palette, her paintings are often accompanied by handwritten texts, slogans, and fragments drawn from extensive reading, transforming words into an integral part of the work's visual and conceptual language.
