Maia Bunge
Maia Bunge
Argentine self-taught visual artist
Maia Bunge is an Argentine self-taught visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores imagination, memory, and the transformative possibilities of place. Born in Buenos Aires and raised in the mountains of Córdoba, she has lived and travelled extensively before establishing her practice in Spain. Working across mixed media—including ink, watercolor, pencil, pastel, collage, and digital techniques—she creates dreamlike compositions inhabited by winged figures, lush interiors, distant galaxies, and imagined landscapes. Inspired by the natural world, architecture, Japanese aesthetics, and artists such as Henri Matisse and Paul Gauguin, her work blends cultural references into poetic visual narratives that dissolve the boundaries between reality and fantasy. For Bunge, each artwork functions as a visual poem, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and encounter the world through a lens of quiet wonder, beauty, and contemplation.
