Tawanda MuAfrika (born in Zimbabwe) is a multidisciplinary African artist whose practice encompasses painting, sculpture, performance, film, animation, music, storytelling, and public art. Grounded in a philosophy of cultural reclamation and decolonial identity, he works across diverse media—including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, metal, stone, and sand animation—to explore African history, spirituality, memory, and collective experience. His live sand art performances and collaborative projects merge visual art with music, poetry, and theatre, reflecting a commitment to interdisciplinary experimentation and community engagement. Based in Johannesburg, MuAfrika has participated in exhibitions, festivals, theatre productions, and research initiatives across Southern Africa, collaborating with musicians, poets, and artists while contributing to public murals, educational programs, and socially engaged cultural projects.
