Errol Theunissen is a Zimbabwean-born, UK-based self-taught painter and illustrator whose work explores memory, belonging, and the quiet emotional significance of everyday life. Following a life-changing motor vehicle accident, painting became central to his artistic practice, providing a means of reflecting on personal experience through intimate depictions of domestic interiors, family relationships, and familiar surroundings. Working primarily in oil on canvas and linen, as well as drawing with oil pastel and ink, he creates vibrant compositions shaped by the colours, memories, and visual culture of his African heritage. His paintings celebrate ordinary moments of care, comfort, and human connection, transforming them into emotionally resonant narratives.
