Zoe Kamarinos is a Greek Australian painter whose figurative practice explores identity, intimacy, and the transformative nature of human relationships. Drawing on both classical mythology and contemporary lived experience, she creates richly layered paintings that examine how communities of care shape selfhood, with a particular focus on queer experiences of belonging. Working primarily in oil paint, often incorporating textiles and embroidery, Kamarinos combines vivid colour, expressive brushwork, and symbolic motifs to create emotionally resonant portraits that blur the boundaries between memory and imagination. Her work reflects on friendship, vulnerability, and collective identity, transforming everyday moments into powerful narratives of connection and personal transformation. In 2025, she received the Fagan and Corser Award for Figurative Painting for her triptych Painting Those I Know and Love.
