Karolína Amálie Šimková is a Czech painter whose figurative practice explores emotion, memory, and the complexities of contemporary social experience. Working primarily in portraiture, she uses expressive colour and intimate representation to investigate inner psychological states and the ways people construct and conceal their identities. A recurring motif in her work is the use of vivid eyeshadow, symbolising the desire to hide behind makeup while simultaneously revealing vulnerability.
