Artist Profile

Imi Williams (b. 1999) is a London-based painter whose abstract practice explores colour, light, and the material possibilities of paint through carefully layered compositions. Working with translucent veils of pigment, she creates luminous surfaces that balance precision with intuition, allowing forms to emerge gradually through processes of concealing and revealing. Her paintings evoke a sense of stillness and movement simultaneously, using subtle shifts in colour and gesture to create atmospheric depth and meditative spaces. Williams completed an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art in 2024, following a BA in Fine Art (Painting) at Camberwell College of Arts, and continues to investigate abstraction as a process of continual transformation and perception.
