Batchimeg Bayaraa
Mongolian textile artist
Batchimeg Bayaraa is a Mongolian textile artist whose practice encompasses sculpture, tapestry, handwoven carpets, and installation. Drawing on the rich tradition of Gobelin tapestry, she has developed a distinctive approach through extensive hands-on exploration of weaving and textile techniques. Her process is intuitive and deeply personal, shaped by emotion, memory, and inner reflection. Working with materials including wool, cotton yarn, metal threads, and metal sheets, Batchimeg explores the interplay between softness and rigidity, form and transformation. Her work has been exhibited in Austria, Hungary, Australia, and Mongolia, including her 2025 solo exhibition Transformation, which brought together textile sculptures and installations exploring the evolving nature of form and meaning.
