Artist Profile
Bolortuya Munkhjargal
Mongolian artist
Bolortuya Munkhjargal is a Mongolian artist whose practice explores animals as symbols of protection, strength, spiritual authority, and the sustaining forces of nature. In her exhibition Spirit of the Ink, paternal animals—including the Boar deity, guardian spirit of mountains and waters—are rendered through dynamic ink drawings that combine realism with narrative expression. Drawing on her close experience with domestic animals and the Mongolian worldview of the Eternal Blue Sky (Mönkh Khökh Tenger), Bolortuya seeks to capture the inner essence and energy of animals through their gaze and presence. Her precise ink and resist techniques balance meticulous observation with spontaneous movement, creating works charged with spiritual depth, protection, and tranquility.
