Artist Profile
Ezinwanne Valerie Umerah
Nigerian collage artist
Ezinwanne Valerie Umerah (b. 1995) is a Lagos-based Nigerian visual artist working in mixed-media collage. Using discarded paper, old magazine cutouts, fabric, and canvas, she creates layered, tactile works exploring the interior lives of women through memory, joy, identity, and presence. Her background in Linguistics informs her interest in how meaning is formed, fractured, and reassembled through material and image. Working from the inside out, Umerah creates intimate visual spaces that foreground women’s private experiences and emotional worlds.
