Artist Profile
Mary Fahy
Irish visual artist
Mary Fahy is an Irish visual artist based in Ennistymon, County Clare, on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. Born in Galway in 1977, she holds a First Class Honours BA in Fine Art Painting and a Higher Diploma in Art and Design Teacher Education from Limerick School of Art and Design. Her artistic practice is rooted in intuition, personal experience, and direct observation, informed by her studies in Greece, where she explored the traditional art of icon painting. Fahy’s work engages with themes of ritual, grief, memory, belonging, and the relationship between personal and collective experience. Alongside her studio practice, she has a strong commitment to arts education and community collaboration, co-founding the Clare Artist-Mother Collective in 2022. She has undertaken residencies in France and Ireland and exhibited widely, including at Pulchri Studio in The Hague, the Hunt Museum, the Royal Ulster Academy, and galleries across Ireland.
