Michele Martines was born in Montenegro, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. She graduated in Visual Arts from the State University of Rio Grande do Sul (2002-2005) and holds a Master's in Visual Arts from the Federal University of Santa Maria (2008-2010). In 2013, she received a scholarship for an artist residency at the R.A.T. – Artistic Residency Program for Exchange, in Mexico City. From the year 2017 to the year 2019, Michele worked in the municipal administration of her hometown, assuming the Directorate of Tourism. This experience increased her interest in the landscape (urban and rural), the relationship between the inhabitants and their public spaces and the local identity in the midst of the globalization.
