Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 1995, Abel Beyene is an interdisciplinary visual artist living and working in Addis Ababa. He began his formal art education at Abyssinia Art and Vocational Training Centre before continuing his studies at Teferi Mekonen School of Art from 2015 to 2018, where he developed and refined his practice. Working primarily with acrylic, oil, and collage, while also experimenting with digital media and photography, Beyene investigates shifting human identities and their relationship to global and social conditions. His work engages themes of history, diversity, knowledge, and migration, creating a layered visual language that reflects the complexities of contemporary human experience.
