Adewole Damola
Visual representational artist based in Lagos
Born in 1995 in Ibadan, Adewole Afeez is a representation artist who works in acrylic on canvas. A well-known African artist, his artworks have been in the reputed collection, nationally as well as internationally. His artworks have been shown on one of the known African shows called Big Brother Naija season 6. He has a National Higher Diploma in Painting from the reputed Yaba College of Technology, Lagos Nigeria. Inspired by the works of Akinola Ebenezer, he was trained under him during his formative period.
Damola’s artistic representations show an influence from the African masters as well as European modern art. His impressions particularly portray black figures from his surroundings. Superimposed with various techniques, styles, and objects, the paintings portray the dilemma of culture and socio-politics. Predominantly portraying female figures, the portrayals and visual representation delve beyond the mere figures and colours.
