Artist Profile

Aida Namukose
Eco-feminist photographer from Uganda
Aida Namukose is an eco-feminist photographer and visual storyteller from Jinja, Uganda. Working across photography and videography, she is passionate about documenting the relationships between women, nature, and sustainable ways of living, alongside broader themes of human rights and pan-African solidarity. Her practice is rooted in portraiture, through which she seeks to capture the essence of individuals—particularly those from stigmatised or underrepresented communities—contributing to more nuanced and empathetic public narratives. A 2022 Minority Africa Fellow, she has worked with organisations including Future Rising, Minority Africa, and the Global Landscapes Forum, developing projects that foreground ecological awareness and social justice. Through her lens-based practice, Namukose aims to foster understanding, visibility, and a more inclusive society.
