Aigerim Ospan was born in Stepnogorsk and lives in Almaty, Kazakhstan. She graduated from the Academy of Arts in Almaty with a degree in easel painting. Multimedia artist, working with communities, she uses artistic practices to engage people in co-creation and joint social transformation. Aigerim explores her identity through working with the personal stories of his relatives, collecting memories and turning them into illustrated stories. This practice fills in the “blank spots” of the colonial past. Using modern marketing tools she raises the question of the place of creators in the social structure of society.
