Alvīne Bautra (b.1990) is a Latvian contemporary artist whose focus is on portrait and window surface paintings. The portrait painting compositions embody the feeling of movement in slow motion. The artist considers movement as a metaphor of human being, the human multi-layered nature, diversity and also uncertainty. Through the paintings she outlines the complicity of human mind and body in the existence. In 2019, Alvīne graduated from Art Academy of Latvia, MA in Painting. In 2014, she enriched her knowledge at Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee in Germany and in 2018 at Estonian Academy of Arts. In 2019 she had two solo exhibitions “Random existence” and “Anonymous”. In 2019, she has been nominated as one of the finalists in painting contest Young Painter Prize 2019. Alvīne Bautra currently lives and works in Riga, Latvia.
